General Camp Specifications:

Size: The site for Cluster fork will utilize an area approximating 100 feet by 100 feet .
(Potentially around location: 3:00  A). Camp registered as a Theme Camp (pending).
As in past years, we are pointing our  tents opening away from the ocasional prevailing winds. No need to repeat the "Ram scoop" efffect of 98.
Our overall tent structure has changed from previous years. (see photos) We have experienced a many and varied set of weather conditions in the past. Furious winds, deluging rains and the everpresent sun beating down.  This year we are moving towards a more thoughtfully planned out enginering design. The footprint of our site has grown (slightly) to support a larger canopy. We still have the ubiqutious support tents to house our gear, but this year, we're more carefully considering our environmental and user friendly needs. Less wasted space, more concentrated use of the land. Wheelchair access, more stability in the wind, better shade. Less blowing around of our crap. (or should I say stuff).

Perimeter: None of the re-bar stakes will be just simply exposed above the ground like in the past. No sharp iron points to impale you on. We're going with the candy cane shape which leads to fewer bruises and ouches. The anchor cables and ropes will be draped with ribbons to improve visiblity.

Power: generator, solar panels charging our deep cell marine batteries.

Tower/ 2 Flag poles  roughly 40 feet tall, anchored in a substantial fashion. (see below) Typical triangular guy wire set up (1/8 inch cable).

Shower, outside 12 volt water pump, curtain and a pallete to stand on. (second generation)

Third Generation Structure 2001 (yeah, looks flimbsy, but it held)

This spidery structure was effective and actually survived the mighty winds of the desert. (minimal structural damage) The yurt suffered no damage at all. No wonder the Beduins were succesful in the desert.
